WHEELS ON TRACK: Bolinao’s Problem about the Roads’ Situation and Transportation
Rocky, steep, dusty, deserted, and a very long road, that’s what we have encountered on our way to the Bolinao falls 1 and 2. We rode on a tricycle and it’s so hard and tiring as we made our way to the falls. On our way, we also saw four-wheeled cars and trucks; they have a hard time to manipulate their vehicle because of the “obstacles”, what more for us who only have a three-wheeled mini transpo? It was almost ruined. Our trip had almost failed because we had another problem, we didn’t easily locate the falls. But after all the sufferings because of the route we have encountered, thank God we survived.
Road “obstacles” and transportation is one of the problems we have encountered during our trip. The road we tackle as we travelled to the falls was very terrifying; it was some kind of an isolated area in Bolinao. I can compare it to the famous “Yellow Brick Road” in the story of “The Wizard Of Oz”. Yes the color is literally yellow because of the dust, sand and the super-hot noon time sun, but it’s not smooth as a brick. On that road, Dorothy saw and encountered some weird things and we felt the same on our trip. We saw dried grasses, trees that almost died because it has no leaves at all, there were houses but there were no people on sight. The place was kind of scary, really. But if you’re brave enough, has a very long patience and you do really love adventure, the road would not be a hindrance for you. But don’t you worry because after all that you’ve been through, you will reach the “Emerald City”, the Bolinao falls, and you’ll find out that it’s all worth it. The only problem you’ll just thing about is your way back to the civilization.
The route to the Bolinao falls is not just what I’m concerned about, also I’m thinking about the road in every barangays of Bolinao that leads to the different beach resorts and other tourist spots. They were also steepy. One of the resorts, which is the Punta Riviera Resort at the Brgy. Ilog Malino which we had an interview also mention about this problem about the road. It’s a great problem for them because some of the tourist has a hard time to go on their resort and just choose other resorts that they can easily access. Another thing I have noticed was the transportation they usually use is tricycles. So imagine how strong and durable these three-wheeled vehicles are because they can surpass almost all the steeps the Bolinao road has.
We never just think about that problem, we asked for a solution about it and we found out that the municipality of Bolinao is currently having a plan about their road project. This is very important to implement because it affects the tourism in their municipality. If the roads have a smooth surface, tricycles as their means of transportation is not a big problem. Five years from now, we expect a better Bolinao with upgraded barangay roads.
